About Me

Welcome! I’m Maria Matias, a psychotherapist and advocate for personal growth, emotional well-being, and professional empowerment. With a background that spans psychotherapy, mentorship, and community support, I’ve dedicated my career to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and uncover their full potential.

My Practice

Based in Lisbon, Portugal, I provide psychotherapy services in the private sector, drawing from my training as a candidate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Associação Portuguesa de Psicoterapia Psicanalítica (APPSI). My approach emphasizes self-exploration and meaningful connection, offering a safe, compassionate space for clients to work through personal difficulties and achieve lasting change.I also engage with initiatives that bring psychoanalysis to the forefront of cultural and therapeutic conversations. Through group therapy, workshops, and events with the Centro de Criação Psicanalítica at APPSI, I aim to make this profound therapeutic approach accessible and relevant to modern life.

My Work Beyond the Therapy Room

As Co-Founder of Janis Women, I am committed to empowering women by providing accessible, high-quality mentoring services. Our mission is to connect women with mentors who guide them in overcoming professional challenges, helping them achieve their goals in a supportive and collaborative environment.

What Guides Me

My work is rooted in the belief that meaningful growth begins with self-awareness and is sustained through supportive relationships. Whether in the therapy room, mentoring sessions, or community initiatives, I strive to help individuals build the confidence and resilience they need to thrive.
